"As a magistrate who has worked in different structures of the Judiciary I would like to express my gratitude to all my colleagues in the Prosecutor’s office – whether they supported me as a candidate for the next Prosecutor General or not”. This was written in a position of the current deputy of the Prosecutor General – Ivan Geshev – in a statement to the media.
"Political and corporative interests are the reason for the pressure that presents the prosecutors and magistrates as they don’t do their jobs properly, they don’t have any personal opinion and vote together as they are told to. But those interests differ from the interest of the Bulgarian citizens. This is an example of how political parties, the business, defendants or convicts are trying to expel our professional society and not give it a chance to explain our decision.
But I state today on behalf of the Prosecutor General – Sotir Tsatsarov – and the management of the Prosecutor’s office that no personal attacks against magistrates or prosecutors on their personal positions will be allowed. Any case, such as the accusations against the prosecutor Silvia Sokolova from the Specialized Prosecutor’s office, will be answered properly – with all the instruments that the law provides. In the current situation there is no need of that – the best attestation for Sokolova was already given by the Federal Prosecutor of Netherlands – Frederic Van Leeuw. In a letter to Sotir Tsatsarov he stated his gratitude for her excellent service in the hugest police and judicial operation in Europe in 2017 – “Halifax”.

I can assure you that all of us together – prosecutors, magistrates and judicial employees – will meet the requirements of the Bulgarian citizens for justice and safety of the society regardless their social status”, stated Ivan Geshev.
