"Bulgartransgaz” signed a contract with the Saudi-led consortium “Arkad” for the construction of the Turkish stream gas pipeline. The contract includes the delivery of materials and equipment, investment project, building and implementation of the extended gas pipeline from the Turkish-Bulgarian to the Bulgarian-Serbian border.
"The contract is worth 1.102 billion euro and is supposed to be implemented in up to 615 calendar dates. 308 km have to be constructed in the first 250 days”, explained Vladimir Malinov, the director of "Bulgartransgaz".
The PM Boyko Borissov was also present during the signing. "There were many meetings – with our partners from Russia and Saudi Arabia. This is the so-called "Balkan stream", explained the PM. "This is an example of a transparent procedure – the company from Saudi Arabia became first and we start the execution", continued Borissov.
"We are currently building the Interconnection with Greece worth half a million. While others only talk, today we signed the contract with Russia and Saudi Arabia. 90% of the pipes are already here and by tomorrow they will be on site so the construction can start. Finance is also provided. This is possible because of my good relations with the heir to the crown and Saudi Arabia", explained the PM and reminded: "South Stream gas pipeline was stopped owing to corruption and non-transparent tender proceedings".
"There will be gas pipelines going through our territory, but if we have problems with the petrol – we will ask them again", the PM made a joke.
"They watch us online so I would like to express my gratitude to our colleagues in Riyadh – what we arranged during my visit there, have happened a year later".
