"I offer an agreement to Yordanka Fandakova – whoever wins the local elections, will follow these priorities: opening the Sofia municipality for the citizens, providing publicity, transparency of the tenders and non-discrimination”. This offer was put on the table by Maya Manolova in the beginning of the debate with Yordanka Fandakova for the place of the Sofia mayor – LIVE on Channel 3 for the programme “Benovska asks”.
Both of them had a total of 5 minutes to answer 5 questions. Two of the topics were chosen from each of the candidates for a mayor of Sofia (Yordanka Fandakova chose “Sofia Heating” and “Procurement” while Maya Manolova chose “Air quality” and „Urban environment”) and one was selected by the programme crew – the team both candidates chose for the Local elections in 2019. Afterwards the two candidates asked each other 4 questions each, followed by questions from Iliyana Benovska.
"We must put in the centre the needs of Sofia: bringing the strategic road projects to an end, providing clean air in all districts in the capital and bring investors to our city”, added Yordanka Fandakova. In her opinion the most important problem and the one that is hardest to deal with is the quality of the atmosphere. “Until the end of 2019 the citizens will have the opportunity to observe the changes of that index by 22 stations”, continued Fandakova.
Maya Manolova promised to provide a place in a kindergarten for every child in Sofia. She also engaged herself in the problem of overbuilding. “No private interest can destroy the areas between buildings and the government should play a role in building a register where anyone announces his interest in building somewhere”, explained Manolova.
