The college of prosecutors in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) gave a unanimous positive vote for Ivan Geshev as the next Prosecutor General. The hearing is fixed to take place on October 24.
Both the Commission for attestation and competition (CAC), as well as the Commission for professional ethics (CPE) stated that the only candidate for the position has all the moral and professional qualities to fill the vacancy.
"Ivan Geshev is familiar with the duties of the Prosecutor’s office, as well as the problems and weaknesses in his colleagues’ work up to now. He also has clear and detailed ideas for solving these problems, as well as ideas about the development of the criminal policy of our country. In the same time Geshev can carry on disputes and interdepartmental cooperation”, continue the conclusions from the examination of the CAC.
"Geshev wouldn’t let privileges or discrimination, he is objective and unprejudiced. The current deputy of the Prosecutor General has never made use of his position or derogated from the judiciary reputation, as far as we know. Ivan Geshev is well known for his perfect reputation and he meets all the requirements of the society for becoming the next Prosecutor General. With his loyalty, he is a great example of moral and dignity”, stated the CPE.
"According to the conclusions of both commission reports, it is obvious that the candidate meets all the requirements for a Prosecutor General. This is why he must be allowed to a hearing”, said the College of the prosecutors’ speaker Daniela Masheva.
