“We have reasons to believe that Kristian Boykov didn’t work alone – someone else asked for the cyber-attack on the National Revenue Agency and another one executed it. If we thought on the first place that Kristian Boykov did the IT crime all by himself, now we have proof that he wasn’t alone in that”, continued Tsatsarov. In his opinion the attack can be interpreted in different ways. “It can be in relation either to politics or to business, depending on the data that was illegally approached, as well as by the goals that the attack set. Despite the expectations that the PC cannot be decrypted, we already have proof that 3 days before the cyber-attack Kristian Boykov had all the data on his PC”, added the Prosecutor General. “He is the author of the emails that were sent to the media. We are searching for more evidences and I believe that we will find proof that more people were involved in this crime”.
The cyber-attack on the National Revenue Agency comes from Bulgaria – we do not discuss a criminal from abroad. The version including a hacker from Russia was a disguise in order to boost the whole story. This wasn’t the truth, but the aim of the cyber-attack will be known sooner or later”, continued Tsatsarov.
He gave a comment on the information that his Personal Identification Number (PIN) was searched during the IT crime: “The problem doesn’t concern my personal data. The problem is all the data that is illegally accessed and some of it is still accessible. The leakage of my PIN isn’t a problem for me. It is known and I don’t see a problem in that”, added the Prosecutor General. According to him there must have been political or commercial impact, but whether it is legal or not is a whole another story”, added Tsatsarov.
He answered also to the request of Hristo Ivanov, the leader of the “Da, Bulgaria Movement” for his resignation. “This is the 12th time he does that. There is no news in that request that either I or my deputy resigns. I can also demand that he resigns as a leader of “Da, Bulgaria Movement”. In the very beginning I thought this is personal, but now I know it isn’t”, answered Tsatsarov.
