All my colleagues in the judiciary have already supported me – this is a great level of trust which I am obliged to justify. This was stated on a briefing streamed live on Channel 3 by the deputy Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev. “I will not avoid my responsibilities or their trust, any fights or any chance to express my opinion. I am not afraid of the consequences – the truth is the most important thing”, continued Geshev.
He gave a comment on the fact that he is the only nominee for the next Prosecutor General: “I have already predicted what would happen and you see it in front of your eyes. Let me remind you the situation when 17 people voted for a previous Prosecutor General who was also the only nominee for the position – there were no such reactions on his candidature. Mr Velchev was a successful Prosecutor General from my point of view. I will continue with my comments on the topic this autumn – I have no time for that right now”, added Geshev.
However, he announced that a group of migrants’ smugglers has been caught crossing the river Danube in a joint action of the Prosecutor’s office and GDCOC.
"A car with 9 migrants was caught in the Vitinya district – 3 children, 3 women and 3 old men. 7 migrants came from Iraq and the other 2 0 from Iran. Some of the participants in the criminal group were caught during a celebration on a small island in the river Danube. According to Geshev the migrants were transported through Bulgaria and from their accommodation in Vidin they were transported to the other side of the Danube with motor boats for just a few minutes where smugglers from Romania continued the work of the Bulgarians. The motor boats are quite luxury”, added Geshev.

"The same criminal group organized the arson in the police department in Vidin a few months ago. Two of the possible offenders were caught and are still in the prosecution arrest”, continued Geshev. "But at that time we didn’t have any proof who is the leader of the criminal group. After few months’ work, we have a result – this joint action”, said Ivan Geshev.
