I will debunk the myth claiming that the Prosecutor General Is all-powerful and uncontrolled. This was stated by Ivan Geshev after the president Rumen Radev signed the decree for his appointment as a Prosecutor General.
In his opinion the Prosecutor’s office should do more to meet the Bulgarians’ expectations. Geshev added that the Prosecutor General is not a mailbox where all politicians can address their complaints to, because he is unable to do the only right thing – to send their complaints to a particular prosecutor’s office. He didn’t name anyone that is going to work in his team from January on as the procedure hasn’t finished yet. Geshev pointed out that all attacks towards him come from the political parties and people close to them. And finished by saying: “Those who break the laws should be worried, not me”.
