The chairman of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Mustafa Karadaia published quotes from a statement of its honorary chairman, dated December 19, 2019.
This was the indirect response of the MRF to Prime Minister Boyko Borissov’s proposals to restart the country
The chairman of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Mustafa Karadaia published in his profile in the social media a statement of its honorary chairman, dated December 19, 2019.
In his statement Dogan also talks about a "restart of the democratic model which is a gentle, but also an inevitable way out of the situation”. And continues: “When and how this will happen depends on the maturity of the political elite and civil society”.
Here is the statement of Dogan:
When we talk about defects of democratic rules, norms and realities after 30 years of history, it is at least a disturbing signal for the society. But we cannot close our eyes to obvious political realities. The distortion of the electoral process has become an epidemic that has engulfed all political formations. This reflects on the normal reproduction of democracy and puts its legitimacy under question. Objectively speaking, the political system of society is returning to its very beginning at the start of the Transition, when we held elections under the supervision of external observers, including from the US Senate.
In this socio-political context, it seems that the restart of the democratic model combined with the moral imperative is the gentle but inevitable way out of this situation. When and how this will happen depends on the maturity of the political elite and civil society.
The cyclic recurrence suggests that it is time to change the paradigm of the power system, sometimes polar, according to the historical traditions of the system of power, the mentality of civil society and the “degree” of the international environment.
Another important cycle that has yet to unfold is the disharmony between the accumulation cycle and the distribution cycle. This is not based on the sentiment towards the “social idea”, but on the increase of the risk factors causing a recession.
People realize the need to restart the political model of society to one degree or another, but is relatively less spoken or postponed. Because the risk factors for producing the “critical point” of chaos in party structures is the problematic deterrent to such a radical solution. That’s why the deciding factor for the restart in the case is the maturity and readiness of civil society!
