Prof. Kostadin Angelov visited Smolyan and discussed the protests with the health workers in the region. After their meeting he summarized that the medical staff in Smolyan doesn‘t support the demonstrations in Sofia.
The minister added that there are enough protective supplies for all the hospitals for the next 3 months of the fight wih COVID-19.
Prof. Angelov expressed his gratitude towards the management of the hospital in Smolyan and the medical workers for being an example for a great organization of the work in such a pandemic situation.
"Although we are observing a decrease in the number of people infected with coronavirus in the last 2 weeks, it‘s still early to make a conclusion that the pandemic is over“, added the minister.
The health system is prepared for a second peak of COVID-19 until the end of 2020, whether it is coming or not, continued prof. Kostadin Angelov.
He announced that hospitals without an infections specialist will provide a consultation with one if needed by any of their patients.
There is a significant progress in the work of scientists all over the world toward a successful COVID-19 vaccine, added Prof. Angelov.
He pointed out that Bulgaria will be provided with 2 million vaccines out of 900 million for the whole EU when they are approved by the experts.
