“Bulgaria had the fastest and most adequate reaction to both the health and economic threat caused by COVID-19”, the PM Boyko Borissov wrote in his personal Facebook page.
"Our measures were taken timely and helped many people. More than 300 000 jobs were saved thanks to the 60/40 measure as we were among the first countries to apply it to the state economic. The measure was redesigned to 80/20 for the sectors most affected by COVID-19 such as “Transport”, “Hotels and Restaurants” and “Tourism”. As a result about 700 companies will be support by BGN 43.5 million. Bulgarian small and micro businesses were supported by almost BGN 110 million, while medium companies – with another BGN 200 million. Unemployment was about to reach a level of 14% without such measures, while now it is 7.5%”, continued the PM in his publication.
Nevertheless economic experts are convinced that the hardest times of epidemic consequences for the health and economic systems are yet to come.
"We should think rationally and act flexibly in order to minimize the pandemic damages. The data shows that Bulgaria is on the right track in the fight with COVID-19”, added Boyko Borissov.
