The pandemic is still a serious threat to the health of the people around the world. According to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control there are 30 540 446 cases of COVID-19 around the world up to 19.09.2020. 952 724 have passed away. 2 808 711 or 9.2% of all people infected are registered in the European Union, the European Economic Area together with the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, 185 945 of them passed away.
Here is the statistics for Bulgaria until September 19, 2020: there were 18 733 registered cases, 753 of them have passed away. The tendency shows a continuing high mortality rate and a lower morbidity with a continuing medium rate of cases with severe symptoms.
Extending the emergency epidemic situation allows the authorities to stop the spread of COVID-19 and its effects on the people’s health and state economic. This is of a high importance concerning groups of people such as patients with chronical diseases.
