My property deals are statutory declared – I have nothing to hide. This statement was sent to the media by the Prosecutor’s office in Bulgaria.
"In the evening of the 19th of May, 2019 the online media posted an article entitled “Apartmentgate affair: After closing the register of properties, Tsatsarov’s name was out of the scandal. Tsatsarovi family are regular customers when it comes to the estates of “Multac № 1“ in Plovdiv”. The article informs us that having in mind the donation of a property by a trading corporation to my family (an apartment in Plovdiv) in 2007, later in 2012 a change in the register of properties has been made backdate and the status of the bargain has been changed to a “sale”. The same happened on 19th of May 2019 when the register of properties has been “closed” for more than 36 hours and after that the information for that donation has “disappeared”, said Tsatsarov.
"It is also claimed that no authentic documents have been showed publically”, continued Tsatsarov. In his words there are other suspicions for property bargains. The owner of a building company that sells them is presented as a partner of “Multac № 1“ in Plovdiv”.
"According to “Bivol” this is a reminder of similar bargains of powerful political figures implicated in the “Apartmentgate”affair. The news was spread by Hristo Ivanov, head of the political party “Yes, Bulgaria!”and ex justice minister”, added Tsatsarov.
"This fake news was spread in the first place by the website “Bivol” on the 26th of November 2012 during the procedure of choosing a new prosecutor. The title was different though: “A company made a present to Tsatsarovi family – an apartment in Plovdiv?” However, the aim and the claim were completely the same. The Ethic commission of the Supreme Judicial Council examined the media publications on this and such property bargains. I presented written statements for the examination (on the 26th of November 2012 and 7th of December 2012), accompanied by documents such as deed, testimonial letter from the Registry Agency, etc. The Ethic Commission found no breaches. The commission asked me questions concerning the media publications, including the time during the selection of a prosecutor broadcasted by the national television. In the end of 2012 it turned out that my family received no donation, but bought an apartment in Plovdiv in the size of 55,50 m2 for EUR 21 120 with a tax assessment of BGN 25,382,32”, said the prosecutor.
"I can present publically any document (deed, testimonial letters from the Registry Agency, invoice for buying the apartment, etc.) that have been already presented for the examination in the Supreme Judicial Council in November 2012. I have nothing to hide. All my property bargains have been declared legally“, continued Tsatsarov.
"I am aware of both the aims and the scenarios of these publications. The article of 19th May 2019 has no author but “Bivol”. The only thing I don’t understand is the lack of courage and honor of the author to show his/her name for what he/she wrote”, concludes the statement of Tsatsarov.
